ANC Starts Voting To Shop Jacob Zuma’s Successor

Delegates of the African National Congress (ANC) have started voting in Gauteng, South Africa as they seek a replacement for President Jacob Zuma as party leader.

The voting begun midnight on Sunday after initial delays at the party’s 54th National Congress.

It was gathered that the delegates started voting in four provinces of Eastern Cape‚ Gauteng‚ Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal by 6.am.

4,776 delegates will vote during the exercise.  According to reports, the winner will be announced on Monday.

There are six contestants for the post but report indicates that it will be an intriguing contest between Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and former African Union chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma for the ANC presidency.

The winner is likely going to emerge as the country’s next president after elections in 2019.
