The Nigerian Army has denied reports claiming it plans to train newly recruited personnel in Sambisa Forest.

Sambisa Forest, a forest in Borno State, northeast Nigeria, used to be a major hideout of members of terror group Boko Haram until the military dislodged them in 2016.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, refuted the report that 76 Regular Recruits Intake (76RRI) will be trained in the Sambisa forest.

The military body described the information as untrue and  mischievous.

“Members of the public are therefore requested to disregard it in its entirety,” said Usman in the statement.

The statement also warned  Nigerians to “also be wary of fraudsters that request for gratification from interested candidates or their families. Recruitment into the Nigerian Army is free.”
