It is a game between two rivals: a potentially crunchy game. But Florence Omagbemi is confident of victory as Nigeria confront South Africa in today’s semi-final of the Africa Women’s Cup of nations in Cameroon.
The nine-time African champions were imperious in their last group game, breezing through Kenya 4-0 to finish top of Group B. But against the Banyana Banyana, Omagbemi expects a different game.
Different approach for Banyana
‘The approach against South Africa will be different. We are fortunate to watch some of their games and we will evaluate the team based on that. Every game has a different approach and expectation, she told cafonline.com.
The rainbow nation defeated Nigeria 1-0 when both sides clashed in the semi-finals of the 2012 edition in Equatorial Guinea. And the South Africans are confident they can reenact that feat in today’s game. But Omagbemi is not bothered by that. She believes the girls are ready for the task.
Falcons are ready
”We are fully prepared for the semi-final against South Africa. The spirit in camp is high, and the players and officials are looking forward to the game. We are not losing that game and we are here to go to the next level, which is the final.
