Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed why his side were able to beat Villareal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
After the first leg ended 2-0 in England, Villareal seemed to cancel Liverpool’s lead in the tie through two first half goals from Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin.
However, Liverpool returned in the second half to take the lead with goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane.
Speaking, Klopp said Liverpool were able to defeat Villareal because his players became themselves in the second half.
The German said at his post-match press conference: “First half all of a sudden we were not ourselves, but in the second half we were ourselves and that’s why we won the game.
“Yes of course, Luis, what a goal and he had a few more situations.
“I think the first one he takes with a bicycle kick, if he takes that on the chest he can score already. So yeah, top performance.”
