We’ll Not Beat Seun Kuti In Our Custody – Police

“We are committed to conducting a full and transparent investigation,” stated SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, in response to recent events involving Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti.
Following Kuti’s voluntary surrender on Monday, after a video of him assaulting a police officer went viral, Hundeyin clarified that Kuti had not been subjected to any physical harm and would not be mistreated while in police custody.
Addressing the concerns raised by some individuals, Hundeyin took to Twitter to reassure the public, stating, “Contrary to some people’s emotion-laden expectations, we are smart enough not to torture him.”
He emphasized the police’s commitment to upholding the integrity of their case against Kuti, affirming, “Not a finger has been laid on him nor will be laid on him.”
