Villages Burning in Okuama After Tinubu’s Order, Says Sowore

Political activist, Omoyele Sowore, has lamented that villages are being burnt down in Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

This followed an order by President Bola Tinubu to authorities for the arrest of those behind the killing of some military officers sent to Delta on a mission.

Concise News learnt that on Thursday, March 14, 2024, the troops, responding to a crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta, were ambushed.

During the ambush, a Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and twelve soldiers sadly lost their lives. One civilian was also killed.

Reacting, Tinubu ordered the defence headquarters to go after anyone found to have been responsible for the killing of the personnel.

“The Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff have been granted full authority to bring to justice anybody found to have been responsible for this unconscionable crime against the Nigerian people.

“My government will not relent until we achieve peace and tranquillity in every part of Nigeria.

“May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and keep members of our armed forces safe,” he said.

Reacting, Sowore stated that the order by the President has led to the killing of innocent civilians in the community.

He shared on X, “This is Tinubu’s @officialABAT order being implemented by the “Defence Headquarters” @HQNigerianArmy in Okuama. Villages are being burnt down, and lots of innocent civilians have been killed and many others injured and displaced. This is a crime against humanity right here! #RevolutionNow.”
