Victorious Super Eagles Receive Presidential Salute

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Super Eagles for beating Algeria’s Desert Foxes 3-1 in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Victor Moses scored a brace, while Mikel registered Nigeria’s second in the triumph over the North Africans in a Group B qualifying game in Uyo.
And Nigeria’s number one citizen, in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, joined millions of football fans across the country to celebrate the victory.
The statement was signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Commendation for the Eagles
The President commended the Eagles and their handlers for displaying “uncommon strength, determination and high professionalism in the onward and steady progress to the 2018 tournament in Russia.
President Buhari assured that with the six points so far gathered from two impressive wins by the team, the Federal Government, and all Nigerians would continue to support them to make the nation proud.
The President also commended the Akwa Ibom State government for hosting the match and the fans for their good conduct and sportsmanship throughout the game.
Eagles open four-point lead
Group B currently begins with Nigeria and ends with Algeria. Nigeria are top with six points, followed by Cameroon with two points, while Zambia and Algeria are on a point each.
