Uyo Stadium Gets NFF Approval For Eagles’ World Cup Qualifier

The Nigeria Football Federation have expressed satisfaction with the pitch in the Godswill Akpabio stadium, venue of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria on 12 November.

The football house made this known following an inspection on the stadium’s facilities by a five-man team led by the federation’s 1st vice president, Seyi Akinwumi.

The inspection was carried on the request of coach Gernot Rohr, who pointed out some areas that needed to be fixed after the crew hard their first visit.

A member of the NFF Technical Committee Paul Bassey stated that any hiccup, which might hinder the performance of the Super Eagles in the crucial World Cup qualifier have been ‘removed.’

Bassey also noted that the Committee had given its approval to the list of invited players by the German tactician for the clash in Uyo.

He said: “NFF 1st Vice President Seyi Akinwumi led a five-man committee to inspect some areas in Uyo Stadium pitch, which was pointed out by Rohr to be rectified.

”The inspection team came to Uyo and they where satisfied because the areas in question have been fixed.

”The pitch is 100 percent ready to host the Super Eagles versus Algeria clash.

“On the part of the Technical Committees, we are backing the Super Eagles in every capacity to win the match,’’ he said.
