United Loss to Palace ‘a Final Nail on Coffin’ for Ten Hag – Scholes

Paul Scholes, the former Manchester United midfielder, has expressed a damning verdict on the future of manager Erik ten Hag following the team’s crushing 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Monday.

Speaking on Premier League Productions with Michael Owen, Scholes suggested that this defeat could be the decisive moment that signals the end of Ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford.

The loss has serious implications for Manchester United, jeopardizing their chances of qualifying for European competition next season—a setback that adds pressure on the club’s management and playing staff.

Scholes, known for his straightforward analyses, did not mince words, describing the result as the “final nail in the coffin” for the Dutch manager, indicating a crisis point in his leadership.

He said: “It’s been a difficult one, I know Michael’s saying he’s felt it for a long time and the signs have been there that it’s going to be difficult for him to do it next year.

“But tonight felt like the final nail in the coffin, really.

“It felt like the end. If it is the end, I’m not sure what’s out there at the minute.

“I’ve felt he might get another year and work for a club that has calmed down a little bit by the new owners but it just doesn’t feel like it now.”
