Terrorism: US Military Ready To Support Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters has said that General Thomas Waldhauser, the Commander of the United States African Command (AFRICOM), has pledged the commitment of the United States Military in assisting Nigerian Armed Forces defeat terrorism.
In a statement on Wednesday, Brigadier- General Rabe Abubakar, the Defence spokesman said the US AFRICOM commander made this known during a meeting with General Gabriel Olonisakin, Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, at the Defence Headquarters, in Abuja.
Abubakar said Waldhauser described Nigeria as an important nation that is very strategic, not only to Africa but to the world, while her success determines Africa’s success in the social, political and economic emancipation of the continent.
He also said Waldhauser pointed out that the USA would do all that is needed to make Nigeria succeed in its leadership role in Africa, especially in its effort at defeating terrorism.
General Gabriel Olonisakin, expressed his appreciation to the US for its tremendous contributions to the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against insurgency and other sundry crimes across the country.
