The Kaduna Dry Port has been commissioned by the Federal Government on Tuesday as it moves to stimulate economic growth in the area.

Concise News understands that Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Kaduna State Governor Nasir ElRufai, were among those who witnessed the event.

According to Amaechi, the Kaduna Dry Port will immensely provide the needed stimulus for massive economic growth in Kaduna state and the country at large.

This is as he noted that the progressive effort of the present government in rail rehabilitation and construction was aimed at ensuring effective intermodal transport connectivity nationwide.

According to him, the dry ports are transport infrastructure projects promoted by the ministry and Nigeria Shippers Council to solve the problems faced by hinterland shippers.

He said the dry port will address inadequate access to seaports, remove frequent congestion which resulted in the loss of cargo on transit, carnage and accident on the land mode.

“It will also stimulate economic growth and prosperity,”  the minister who was represented at the event by the Director Service of the Ministry, Sani Galadanci said.

On his part, El-Rufai said, “The commencement has confirmed that our inland dry port is functioning and you can ship your goods direct from Kaduna to any part of the world and you can also import goods from any part of the world direct to Kaduna without your containers or any of your goods being opened up for inspection in Lagos.

“Today’s event has opened a new vista of commercial opportunities not only for Northern businessmen but even for our neighbouring countries.”
