The governor of Plateau state, Simon Bako Lalong, has thrown his weight behind the safer roads, fuller lives campaigns of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The governor expressed his support after his decoration by the Corps Marshal as patron of Special Marshals in Plateau state at the Government House, Jos.

Governor Lalong noted the nexus between the socio-economic development efforts of the government and road safety campaigns, stressing that without safe roads, business and tourist activities would not thrive anywhere.

He restated the commitment of the Plateau state government to supporting all policies and programmes of the FRSC aimed at creating safer road environments in the state and the nation at large.

Lalong commended the FRSC command in the state for its immense contributions to issues of safety and security of the people, saying the state government will continue to play its own part by ensuring that the personnel have a conducive working environment.

On the ongoing plans to by the FRSC to upgrade its training school in the state to an Institute of Technology, the governor pledged his support in the provision of basic facilities and infrastructure.

According to him, people of Plateau state are always desirous of partnerships that would yield fruitful results in development.

He particularly commended the Corps Marshal for his untiring commitment to making the nation’s roads safer, saying his patrol tour to Plateau state which he described as a strategic gateway to parts of the North and South as a demonstration of exemplary leadership.

On his decoration as patron of Special Marshals in the state, the Governor promised to utilise the position to further make valuable contributions to issues of road safety, promising to make himself available for patrol activities along with other Special Marshals whenever the need arises.
