Supreme Court Wastes No Time in Dismissing Obi’s Appeal Against Tinubu

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, against the victory achieved by President Bola Tinubu at the February 25 presidential election.

On Thursday, the apex court said a case of double nomination ought not to have been brought before it. It said it could not sit and begin to explain when there was a fresh Primary.

The apex court concluded that all other grounds were dealt with in the dismissed appeal filed by former vice president Atiku Abubakar and apply to this mutantis mutandis.

“This appeal lacks merit,” the court said, just as it affirmed the victory recorded by President Tinubu as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
