Counsel to the Biyi Poroye’s faction of PDP in Ondo State, Beluolisa Nwofor, had approached the supreme court challenging yesterday’s ruling of the court of appeal. The appeal court had ruled in Eyitayo Jegede’s favour, dashing the hopes of Jimoh Ibrahim.
The five-man panel led by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, however, struck out all appeals challenging the decision of the Appeal Court which ordered the reinstatement of Jegede as the PDP’s candidate in Ondo State.
“The decision of the lower court on the substantive matter yesterday 23/11/2016 has rendered the instant interlocutory appeal academic as appellant has the right to, against the said judgement, including the interlocutory ruling,” Onnoghen ruled.
“In this circumstance, this appeal is hereby struck out with no order as to cost.”
