Ondo 2016: Supreme Court Rules In Jegede’s Favour

The Supreme Court on Monday struck out stay of execution motions filed by factional state chairman of Ondo PDP Biyi Poroye.
The apex court also gave the Appeal court the nod to go ahead with ruling on the case between Eyitayo Jegede and Jimoh Ibrahim.
Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Onnoghen, who presided over the proceedings, dismissed Poroye’s motions and awarded a cost of N250,000 against him.
No stopping the second panel
Justice Onnoghen said there was no way it could stop the second special panel of the Appeal Court sitting on the Ondo PDP governorship candidate tussle from ruling on the case between Jegede and Jimoh Ibrahim after the first panel stepped down.
Concise news recalls that the Appeal Court had adjourned indefinitely its ruling on the case of Jegede’s appeal to reclaim the candidacy of the PDP in the upcoming Ondo election.
With this ruling, however, the Appeal Court can now continue with the ruling on the case between the two factional candidates of Ondo PDP.
