Supreme Court Confirms Seriake Dickson As Bayelsa Governor

Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, has been confirmed as the rightful occupant of Creek Haven, Yenagoa. This follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Timipre Sylva.
The Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition filed by Sylva to challenge the election’s outcome. This forced the APC candidate in the gubernatorial elections to approach the appeal court, where he lost out.
Sylva dissapointed, Dickson relieved
Sylva finally took his case to the apex court for justice, but there was still no respite for him.
The seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Thursday unanimously affirmed the election of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson
Justice Muhammad, however, deferred his reasons for his decision till November 18.
The apex court delivered the judgment after a marathon hearing of various cases filed by Sylva with respect to the dispute over last year’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.
