Supreme Court Affirms Tinubu’s Victory

Justice Okoro of the Supreme Court has affirmed the victory gotten by President Bola Tinubu at the February 25 presidential election.

Tinubu won the election by defeating his closest rivals, former vice president Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, who both came second and third, respectively.

However, both Atiku and Obi rejected the result and chose to file a challenge at the presidential election petition tribunal, where they lost to Tinubu.

Unrelenting, both politicians took their case to the Supreme Court to seek redress.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court told the appellants (Atiku and Obi) that their claim that Tinubu did not win the election is flawed as they did not present any evidence to prove their argument.

The apex court further said that Tinubu scored the highest number of votes and being declared winner was legal and in tune with the Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
