Super Falcons Fail To Fly As Black Queens Hold Firm

The Super Falcons and the Black Queens of Ghana played out a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in a Group B game of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Limbe, Cameroon.

The African champions took control of the game from the start, and it was not long before they got their reward.
But it was Ghana’s Portia Boakye who put the Super Falcons ahead as she turned Arsenal Ladies forward Asisat Oshoala’s header into her own net in the 19th minute.

But the Ghanaian ladies refused to be intimidated or subdued by their Nigerian rivals. And just before half time, they had Elizabeth Addo to embrace after she restored parity from the spot.
Falcons still ahead
Both sides are tied on four points, but the Falcons top the group, having scored more goals.
The Nigerian ladies will square off with Kenya on Saturday, while Ghana confront Mali in the last round of group matches.
