Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar has urged Nigerians to learn from the mistakes of the past and the lessons of the civil war in order to move forward.
The royal father made the call at the ”Traditional Rulers Day” in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The occasion was part of activities put together to mark the 50th Anniversary of the state.
According to the Sultan, only few nations in the world can survive civil war which he said was the worst challenge that the country faced.
”We must check the lessons and guard against repeating such mistakes and move forward,” he said.
He therefore tasked the government and the traditional rulers in Nigeria to address the issues of poverty and unemployment among the people who he identified as a challenge with multi links and consequences that could be associated to issues of national security or insecurity.
