Stay Away from Ibadan Explosion Site, Oyo Govt Urges Residents

The Oyo State Government has appealed to residents of the state to stay away from the site of the explosion that rocked Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital on Tuesday night.

According to the state government, “This will enable emergency and rescue efforts to continue at the site without interference.”

The government also revealed that “Search and rescue efforts using earth moving equipment continued throughout the night and remain ongoing. We will keep providing updates about the situation.”

Meanwhile, the state governor, Seyi Makinde, has revealed that the explosion was caused by IEDs kept in a house by illegal miners.

The governor also revealed that the incident left two persons dead, 77 injured.

In its own account, the National Emergency Management Agency stated that over 20 houses were destroyed as a result of the explosion that sent panic in Ibadan.
