Sports Minister Declares SWAN 2023 Open

In conjunction with the culmination of the 7th edition of the National Youth Games, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, officially inaugurated the 2023 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Convention. The event took place today in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

During the occasion, Senator Owan Enoh encouraged sports veterans to maintain their unwavering support for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration’s endeavors to foster sports development within the nation, primarily benefiting the country’s youth.

Represented by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga, the Minister applauded SWAN members for their commendable efforts, particularly their constructive coverage of government initiatives, which benefits all Nigerians.

In his words, Senator Owan Enoh stated, “Let me urge you to continue the good work you are doing, especially your support to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration’s efforts in the development of sports for the benefit of our country.”

The Minister commended SWAN for the successful organization of the convention and extended his best wishes for their fruitful deliberations.

Earlier in the program, the President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, expressed gratitude to Senator John Owan Enoh, the Ministry of Sports Development, and the Delta State Government for their instrumental roles in ensuring the successful hosting of the 7th Edition of the National Youth Games.

Mr. Benjamin acknowledged SWAN’s appreciation for the unwavering support and understanding they received throughout the games. He urged SWAN members to continue providing objective and balanced reporting, further supporting the government’s initiatives in sports development.

Moreover, Mr. Etu Moses, representing the Delta State Sports Commission, emphasized the importance of taking the journalism profession seriously and pledged Delta State’s continuous support for the journalism sector, recognizing its pivotal role in the nation’s development.
