The Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received a boost after a vote of confidence was passed on it by Southwest leaders of the party.
This occurred at a meeting that had Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, former Ogun state governor, Gbenga Daniel, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and all state chairmen of the party within the region.
The leaders pledged their allegiance to the faction and promised their support in helping the faction rebuild the party back to its glory days.
Fayose, a staunch and vociferous supporter of the Makarfi faction, was hailed for his leadership of the state and the PDP Governors’ Forum, which he is the chairman of.
In their opening remarks, Governor Fayose and the Southwest National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Eddie Olafeso, highlighted the purpose of the meeting.
At the end of the opening session, the meeting went into a closed-door session after which a communique was read by Kolapo Olusola, Ekiti State deputy governor.
