Ministers, CEOs Fail To Attend Budget Defence Sessions – Senate

Senate President Bukola Saraki

The Senate committees in charge of vetting the 2017 Budget have decried the non-attendance of some ministers and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to the budget defence meetings.

The protest was lodged on Wednesday during the day’s plenary session.

The 2017 Budget and 2016 appropriation defence are currently ongoing with the Senate President urging each committee to not delay the process.

As part of efforts to speed up the process, plenary sessions have been suspended in both Houses to accommodate the ministers and chief executives officers.

Even at that, the committees have reported that quite a number of the ministers fail to attend the defence sessions.
