Senate President Bukola Saraki has maintained that the upper legislative chamber is not working against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The lawmaker told  the National Executive of the Islamic group, Jamaatu Izalatul Bidiah Wa Ikamatus Sunnali (JIBWS), who paid him a courtesy visit at his office, that despite alleged false media reports, his relationship with the President remained cordial.

”I want to assure you of the good cooperation between the legislative arm and executive led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

196 requests

According to the Senator, since the commencement of the 8th Senate, it had received 196 requests from President Buhari for confirmation, out of which he said the Senate has confirmed 185.

”I think, we have only rejected 11. By Mathematics, that is over 90 percent,” he added.

Saraki assured his guests that  the two arms of government are working closely together, more than in the past sessions of the Senate despite the ”noise” in the newspapers, radio and social media’.

”In January, I went to see him and assured him of our cooperation and we have continued to work closely.”

”I want to assure you as we always say, let us be judged by our actions and not by talk,” the Senate President said.
