Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights lawyer, on Monday, withdrew the case he filed against the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu before the Federal High Court.

The suit had sought to stop the Senate from confirming Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Counsel to the plaintiff, Tayo Oyetibo (SAN), at the resumed hearing, informed the court that he decided to persuade his client, after going through the file, to drop charges against Magu, so as to encourage him in the fight against corruption.

Adegboruwa confirmed that he was persuaded by his counsel and he believes that Magu would do well in his approach to the anti-corruption drive of the Federal Government.

Counsel to Magu, Wahab Shittu, said the respondents are not opposed to the withdrawal of the case and are delighted with the position the human rights lawyer has taken.

The trial judge struck out the case.
