Saudi Arabia Moves To Oust Overstayed Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia authorities have made a move to crack down on foreign pilgrims who have over stayed after Hajj.

In a report by local media, authorities said that the offenders would have to pay a fine of $13,329. They will also face six months in jail and deportation.

It also noted that those who offer shelter, jobs or transport, to these pilgrims will be fined $26,662 and also face six months in jail.

According to Saudi authorities, Hajj visas cannot be renewed. Also, those with such visas cannot take up jobs or go outside Mecca.

1.8 million pilgrims, mostly foreigners took part in the 2016 Hajj season.
