Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has officially launched the emblem and appeal fund ahead of this year’s commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a donation of N50million to the State chapter of the Nigerian Legion.
The governor also directed the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to work with the office of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion to identify persons the State can give empowerment and support to within the first quarter of this year.
He said, “Every year, we set out to remember our fallen heroes; men and women that served the country. Those that paid the supreme price while serving the nation and it is customary that on January 15, we remember them.
“Lagos State Government will continue to identify with the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion and wish all members the best in the preparation of this year activity.”
