Rivers Rerun: PDP’s Sekibo Defeats Uchendu In Rivers East

Senator George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Rivers East Senatorial District in the December 10 rerun of legislative elections.
Sekibo defeated his rival, Chief Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress, to claim the seat.
According to the INEC returning officer for the senatorial district Orji Onu Okumenkama, Sekibo polled 93,098 votes to defeat Uchendu who scored 34,193 votes.
But leaders of the APC in the state have rejected the result as they followed the announcement with protest.
