APC’s Magnus Abe Wins Senate Seat In Rivers Rerun

Senator Magnus Abe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged winner of the Southeast senatorial district in Saturday’s rerun of legislative elections in River state.

Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission Prof. Gideon Onuekwusi announced that Abe polled 125,938 votes.

His closest rival Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 25,394 votes.

Labour Party candidate Kingsley Okechukwu scored 549, while Okey Ude of the NNPP recorded 96, and Brown Elfreda of UDP scored 99.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate in Rivers East Thompson Sekibo was leading on Sunday night based on the results so far released.
