Protest: Please Remain Calm, Aregbesola Begs Osun Traders

By Ogbolu George
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the State of Osun Governor, has pleaded with traders in Aiyegbaju International Market to seek a roundtable solution to their problems instead of protesting.
This was made known by Semiu Okanlawan, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor.
The traders had last week staged a protest, where they accused the government of breaching an agreement with them over the operation and ownership of the market.
Okanlawan said the state government had taken cognisance of their complaint and would find a solution.
He also charged the traders to go through the right channels to solve their problems, instead of taking to the streets to protest.
Traders of the Aiyegbaju International Market, had alleged that despite the huge amounts they were asked to pay for the shops, the international market lacked necessary amenities.
They also accused the state government of going back on the original agreement of ownership of the shops for 99 years, saying, ”The government suddenly changed the tenure of ownership from 99 years to 28 years.”
