President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday assuaged the fears of Nigerian citizens who are concerned about his health, guaranteeing them that there is no cause for worry.

In a statement made available by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari thanked millions of Nigerians who have been sending goodwill messages and praying for his well-being in various religious houses across the country.

”The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, shows of love and concern.

”President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry.

”During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned,”Adesina said.

President Buhari, who handed over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has been away from the country since January 23.

He was expected back to the country on Feb. 6, but wrote to the Senate on Feb.5, notifying them of his need for more time to await results of some tests carried out by his doctors.
