Pregnancy Complications Kill 100 Women in Zamfara

Pregnancy related complications killed over 100 women in Zamfara state in 2016, a medical consultant Dr Abubakar Danladi has revealed.

Danladi, who works with the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, disclosed this on Tuesday during a meeting of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and the media on maternal mortality in the state.

According to him, the country is one of the countries with the most healthcare related burden on the globe.

He noted that this was largely due to health issues in the northern part of the country, adding that several lack of support from the government had made the situation worse.

In addition, he said unqualified personnel, lack of drugs and equipment are contributory factors to the deaths.

Similarly, Danladi stated that the rural dwellers were the worst hit by these abnormalities in the healthcare sector in the country.
