Police Restrict Movement in Surulere for Saturday’s By-election

In the forthcoming bye-election in Lagos State, restriction of movement is applicable only in the election area, Surulere Federal Constituency I.

This was disclosed by the Spokesman for the Lagos Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who noted that “There is no restriction of movement in other parts of the state.”

Concise News reported that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, mandated a restriction of vehicular movement from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day in 26 states holding run-off and bye-elections on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Essential services like INEC officials, accredited media, and emergency responders are exempted.

The IGP also banned security aides to VIPs from polling booths and state-owned security outfits from election security management, aiming to prevent interference.
