Police Nab Eight Suspected Cable Thieves In Lagos

Recovery of Stolen Armoured Cable

In a significant breakthrough, the operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have successfully apprehended eight individuals believed to be involved in cable theft.

The arrest took place in Igbo Efon, Lekki, where the authorities also recovered a substantial length of armoured cable from one of the suspects.

Patrolling Operation Leads to Arrests

On the evening of June 1, 2023, around 9:30 p.m., the RRS operatives were on patrol in Anthony Village, Lagos when they encountered a group of individuals engaged in suspicious activity.

The suspects were caught in the act of digging and shoveling the ground, seemingly searching for armoured cables belonging to Ikeja Electric.

Identifying the Suspects

The seven suspects apprehended in Anthony Village were identified as follows: Kamalu Mohammed (32), Usman Lawal (33), Ibrahim Salisu (22), Hassan Salisu (20), Zulkiful Sani (23), Umar Haruna (26), and Amadu Muazu (22).

Further investigations will be carried out to determine the extent of their involvement in cable theft and any possible connections to other criminal activities.
