Police Identifies Officers Demanding Tinted Permits from Motorist

The Zone 2 Command of the Police Force has issued a response to a viral video shared by Twitter user @EmmCee_RNB on January 25, 2024. In the video, three individuals claiming to be police officers attached to Zone 2 Command were seen demanding a tinted permit from a motorist.

The officers involved were identified as ASP KENEDY EREOAH, INSPR ADEMILUYI ADEKUNLE, and INSPR AYO GBENGA, all stationed at the Zonal Intelligence Bureau, Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.

In a series of posts on X, the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer clarified that the officers were indeed on official duty but had acted unprofessionally. The officers have been reprimanded and are currently facing disciplinary proceedings for violating the Inspector General of Police’s directive on tinted permits.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the command has invited the affected member of the public to come forward and engage with the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer for further action. Individuals can reach out via GSM number 08100025614.

Amidst the ongoing investigation, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) overseeing the Zone 2 Command has urged the public to remain calm. The AIG also reassured residents of Lagos and Ogun States of the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties as they conduct their lawful activities.
