The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced its withdrawal from the forthcoming presidential election and adopted the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari. The party made this known in a statement as part of the resolutions of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
3. Red Card Movement Abandons Ezekwesili, Endorses Atiku
The Red Card Movement (RCM) has endorsed Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its presidential candidate in the forthcoming presidential election. The group explained that Atiku was a seasoned businessman who understands governance, adding that the PDP presidential candidate was not a tribal or ethnic bigot.
4. 2019 Elections: Inec Insists APC Has No Candidate For Rivers
Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State will not field candidates in the forthcoming elections. INEC’s response is coming four days after the Appeal Court’s judgment granted a stay on an earlier judgment on the fielding of candidates by APC in Rivers State.
5. Akinrinade Rips Obasanjo Apart, Says He Belongs To Dustbin Of History

7. Agbakoba Drags AGF To Court Over Onnoghen
The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has been sued by a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari. President Buhari suspended Onnoghen as the CJN on January 25 over allegations of non-declaration of assets.
8. Army Spokesman Retires From Service Voluntarily
Brig. Gen Sani Usman, the Director of Nigerian Army Public Relations, on Thursday, announced his voluntary disengagement from the military. In a statement in Abuja, Brig. Gen Usman said although a new spokesman has not been named, he would hand over to Colonel A A Yusuf who is the Chief of Staff of the Directorate of Public Relations.
9. ‘No PVC, No Voting,’ INEC Sends Last Chance SMS To Nigerians
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has called on Nigerians to visit their Local Government Areas, LGAs, of registration to pick up their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs). INEC had announced February 8 as the last day for collection of PVCs, so as to give room for preparations for the elections.
10. Livescore: Mfon Udoh Inspires Akwa United To Second NPFL Win
A lone goal from Mfon Udoh was all Akwa United needed to secure a win over Yobe Desert Stars in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game on Thursday. The win in the match-day seven clash was their second in the NPFL and Mfon’s third strike this term.
