Police Crackdown on Shilla Gangsterism in Adamawa, Arrest Four

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of four members of a notorious gang known as the Shilla Boys. The operation, conducted on April 23, 2024, in collaboration with local stakeholders, targeted the gang members who are infamous for their deceptive operations labeled as “Tonkores.”

The arrested individuals, identified as Kalifa Yahaya, 22; Usman Ahmed, 20; Adamu Manu, 26; and Rilwanu Abdullahi, 30, all hail from the Yola North and Yola South local government areas. The police described how these suspects frequently posed as passengers in tricycles, only to rob unsuspecting victims of their possessions such as phones, jewelry, money, and other valuables.

The police have revealed that the investigation is still ongoing as they work to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and connections. This latest operation is part of a broader effort by law enforcement to dismantle criminal networks that prey on civilians in Adamawa State.

The arrest of these individuals has brought a sense of relief to the community, which has been troubled by a rise in petty and organized crime. Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities, as they continue to reinforce security measures across the region.
