The Anambra Police Command has arrested three persons for allegedly involved in filming and circulation of a viral video where a nude woman was ashamed.
The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Haruna Mohammed explained this in a statement issued in Awka on Saturday, titled “Conspiracy, Blackmail, Deprivation of Liberty and Assault Occasioning Harm.”
According to Haruna, the victim, Ogochukwu Okafor was lured by her Facebook friend, Ifeanyi Azotani to his house in Amawbia, Awka, only for a woman who claimed to be his wife Tochukwu Azotani to emerge and lock her in the toilet.
The PPRO further explained that the wife, who was with her friend Ogochukwu Nwankwo, returned four hours later with a cane and opened the bathroom door.
He said the suspects demanded N60, 000 from the victim and threatened to have her humiliated by uploading her video to the internet.
Haruna disclosed that the suspect’s friend, Nwankwo, stripped her naked and flogged her severally while the principal suspect was busy videotaping the incident and thereafter, walked her out from the compound naked.
The PPRO said the complainant alleged that the principal suspect, Tochukwu, called her on phone the next day and requested for N60,000 or they would post her nude video on the internet.
He said, “Consequently When the complainant refused to pay the money as requested, the principal suspect actualised her threat and posted the naked video to the internet and since then the video went viral.”
Haruna said the scene of the incident had been visited by detectives attached to the Central Police Station, Awka adding that the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution after an investigation was concluded.
