He emphasized that the efforts to combat unlawful activities would be improved, maintained, and sustained to ensure the safety and security of the state’s residents.

Successful Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Items in Sapele

Late in the evening on June 25, 2023, an alarming distress call was received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sapele division, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi. The victim, whose identity is withheld, reported being attacked by a suspected armed robber as he disembarked from his vehicle. The assailant, armed with a gun, forcibly took a valuable gold chain worth #700,000 from the victim’s neck before swiftly fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving the distress call, the DPO swiftly alerted the patrol team assigned to that particular area. The team promptly sprang into action, apprehending a suspect named Lucky Sunday, a 25-year-old resident of Otumara village in Jesse. The arrest led to the recovery of incriminating evidence, including a cut-to-size double barrel locally made pistol, three live cartridges, a torchlight phone, and the stolen gold chain. The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Prompt Response Leads to Rescue in Agbor Armed Robbery

Another significant incident occurred on June 26, 2023, at approximately 1:35 a.m. The DPO of Agbor division, CSP Idris Haruna, received a distress call concerning an ongoing armed robbery operation near Uromi Junction Agbor. Reacting promptly, the DPO personally led a team of operatives from the division to the scene.

Upon the arrival of the police, the armed robbers, realizing their imminent capture, swiftly fled the area, seeking refuge in a nearby bush. However, they abandoned crucial evidence in the process, including a cut-to-size locally fabricated gun and an expanded cartridge.

Fortunately, the victims, whose identities are withheld, both residents of Agbor community aged 41 and 36 respectively, were successfully rescued unharmed. They revealed that the robbery occurred while they were traveling from Agbor-Obia area towards Uromi Junction Agbor. The police have taken custody of the recovered exhibits, and investigations are underway with a concerted effort to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
