PHOTOS: Sanwo-Olu Graces Completion Ceremony of GAC Car Assembly Plant

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, graced the completion ceremony of the GAC Car Assembly Plant and the First 2000 Vehicles Assembled by GAC Motors at Plot 38A, Wemco Road, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Lagos State Government and CIG Motors Company Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2020; while the Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) was executed in March 2021.

The MoU and JVA are meant to establish the GAC Motor Nigeria CKD factory in Ogba and also the LAGRIDE project – 1000 brand new GAC cars for smart taxi in Lagos.

Below are photos from the ceremony as shared by the Special Adviser to the Governor, Jibril Gawat.

He partly captioned the photos: “This Assembly Plant sits on a 35,000 square meters landmass, including the production and quality inspection line workshops. The fully automated production workshop consists of 3 lines – The Trim line, The Chassis line and the Final line. The factory is built to GAC CKD factory standards and can match the current dismantled CKD assembly and forward assembly methods.”
