PDP Leadership Tussle: Sheriff Promises To Obey Court Ruling

By Ogbolu George
Modu Ali Sheriff, the factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and a former governor of Borno state, yesterday said he would abide by the ruling of the Appeal Court.
The Chairman, who is on a nationwide tour, said this at a re-scheduled meeting in Agbor, Delta state after security operatives sealed off the original venue for the meeting in Asaba.
He said, as a law-abiding citizen, he was ready to abide by the Friday, February 17 Appeal Court judgement in Abuja, after a series of conflicting judgments by lower courts on the leadership tussle in the party.
Sherrif who said that his intention was to re-position the party to regain power at the center in 2019, insisted that he was the bonafide chairman of the PDP.
The party has been rocked by crises involving two factions claiming control over its administration.
One faction is led by Ali Modu Sheriff , while the other is led by Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna state.
