Patience Jonathan Denies EFCC Claims
Immediate Past First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Patience Jonathan has declared as false, EFCC allegation over monies being traced to her accounts.
In a statement by her Media Consultant, Chima Osuji, he said, the initial allegation that Mrs Jonathan laid claim to the ownership of $31.7m is not true. He said the former first lady does not own and has never owned such amount of money.
He also has described as lies, claims by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, that another $25 million had been traced to her accounts, saying that the allegations were false and meant to hoodwink the public against her person.
He also debunked claims that Mrs. Jonathan opened accounts in the names of cooks, drivers and artisans describing it as perhaps the biggest falsehood to the knowledge of EFCC.
He also accused the EFCC using the allegations to malign Mrs. Jonathan in the eyes of the misinformed and unsuspecting members of the Nigerian Public and beyond and give a semblance of a picture of a hardworking agency bent on fighting corruption and indeed winning the war.
The statement added that EFCC needs to desist from media trials of innocent citizens before trial in a court of law as provided under the Constitution.
