Palmer Responds to Sterling Amid FA Cup Drama

Following Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final victory over Leicester City, Cole Palmer has opened up about a message he received from teammate Raheem Sterling. The Blues secured a spot in the semi-finals after a rollercoaster match that saw Sterling’s performance draw mixed reactions.

Despite an early lead courtesy of Marc Cucurella’s goal, Mauricio Pochettino’s side faced setbacks, notably when Sterling was fouled for a penalty midway through the first half. Although Palmer was slated to take the spot-kick, Sterling stepped up, only to see his effort saved by the goalkeeper.

While Sterling did assist Palmer in scoring before halftime, his performance was marked by missed opportunities, with chants of ‘Get him off’ ringing out after a wayward free-kick attempt. Despite the pressure, Chelsea managed to hold off Leicester’s comeback attempts, securing their victory with late goals from Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke.

Amid the on-field drama, Palmer revealed that Sterling reached out to him, highlighting the camaraderie within the Chelsea squad.

Taking to social media, Sterling wrote a message addressing Chelsea supporters: “Wembley Bound. To all the Chelsea fans, apologies for the penalty miss. I’ll be back 10x times stronger to help the team win and continue to keep fighting for the badge every single day. Let’s go Blues.”
