Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has restated the federal government’s commitment to boosting the nation’s economy and empowering traders.
Osinbajo noted this on Saturday in Owerri, the Imo State capital at the launch of the Trader Moni initiative of the President Muhammadu Buhari government.
He met with some petty traders at the Relief Market in Owerri as he kickstarted the N10,000 no-interest loans.
According to him, the Trader Moni initiative was meant to get resources in the hands of Nigerians and also empower them.
In addition, he assured that the Trader Moni initiative is free for all and devoid of political or ethnic affiliations.
The Trader Moni scheme gives N10,000 loans to petty traders in the country, repayable over a six-month period without interest.
It was first launched on Aug. 7 in five markets in Lagos State.
