Benue state governor Samuel Ortom has, on Wednesday, appeared before a joint senate committee probing killings by herdsmen in his state.
Governor Ortom was indicted by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over his alleged culpability in the crisis in the state.
It was also gathered that the police boss informed the Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence of the arrest of 145 people.
The Committee had last week Tuesday presented a report of its investigations into the failure of Idris to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the January killings in Benue.
But the Senate rejected the report, calling on the committee to get the governor’s views on the allegations against him.
