One Killed As ‘Area Boys’ Beat Up Policemen In Lagos

A four-member gang has reportedly shot dead a police personnel and left two others injured in a taxi park at Oyemekun area in Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos state.

Concise News gathered that a police vehicle with plate number NPF 2345 D was destroyed during the face-off.

According to an eyewitness, a taxi driver, who chose to be anonymous, the names of the policemen were unknown as they were just posted to the area.

Our source added that the three policemen were sitting beside them when the members of the gang stormed scene of the incident.

According to him, the policemen could not fight back due to the unplanned attack, adding that the gang members had come with dangerous weapons to beat up the police operatives.

He also said that the policeman who escaped the beating was immediately chased by other members of the sect.

The eyewitness also said that in a bid to scare the gang members who were after him away, the policeman (who was killed) shot into the air before falling to the ground due to tiredness.

Another eyewitness said that when the policeman fell, his gun was collected from him and was then used to shoot him multiple times in the chest by members of the gang, who absconded through Obawole route.

Upon hearing the information, another set of policemen came down to evacuate the corpse of their deceased colleague, while the remaining two were immediately rushed to a general hospital in Ifako.

Attempts to reach the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
