Eyitayo Jegede, the factional governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday urged his supporters to remain calm. He said he is exploring legal options to ”reclaim’ his candidacy back.

The News Agency of Nigeria [NAN] reports that Jegede’s name was not on the official list of governorship candidates. The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday released the final list. Consequently, his supporters took to the streets of Akure in a violent protest protest.

Jegede, therefore, in a press statement issued in Akure by his spokesperson, Mr. Fasua Kayode, said that he had gone to the Court of Appeal to upturn the decision.

Jegede is optimistic that he would get justice in the end. He also urged his supporters to remain calm and steadfast in the struggle.

Jegede assured that he would not, for any reason, jettison the mandate given to him by the generality of Ondo PDP members.

“Eyitayo Jegede, your son as well as brother, has not in any way abdicated the general consent given to him by the law-abiding members of the PDP to seek election into the office of the Governor.

“Like I have always said, I am guided by the Almighty. The vision to transform this state to a land of wealth and prosperity also guides my actions.

“You remain my priority as we, in faith, match on to the Promised Land,” he stated.
