Omeruo, Bassey Uncertain for Nigeria, Ghana Friendly

Defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Calvin Bassey’s absence from training on Wednesday has raised doubts about their availability for the Super Eagles’ friendly match against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Super Eagles conducted their second training session in Marrakech on Wednesday night as they prepare for the upcoming game.

Omeruo and Bassey have one more training session today to demonstrate their readiness for the match.

Both players played pivotal roles in Nigeria’s impressive performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.

Caretaker head coach Finidi George may rely on Semi Ajayi and Chidozie Awaziem as potential replacements if Omeruo and Bassey fail to prove their fitness before the game.

The Super Eagles are already missing several key players for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali. Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Tyrone Ebuehi, and Gabriel Osho have all withdrawn from the squad due to injuries.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Ghana at the Grande Stade de Marrakech on Friday and will also play against Mali at the same venue next week Tuesday.
