Ogun Police Deny Kidnapping of Three Pupils

The Ogun State Police Command has responded to circulating online news concerning the alleged kidnapping of three pupils from Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School in Abeokuta on Friday, September 29, 2023. The Police Command emphasized the need for verification before accepting such reports, declaring that the information is false and misleading.

In a series of tweets, the Command reaffirmed that there was no factual basis for the reported kidnapping incident and urged the public to disregard the rumors. An investigation was conducted in collaboration with the school’s principals, OLAPADE K. O (Principal Senior School) and BANKOLE T. A (Principal Junior School), as well as the pupils’ parents. None of the parents reported any incidents of kidnapping to the school authorities.

Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc assured the public that enhanced security measures have been implemented across the state. He encouraged residents to carry on with their daily activities without any fear for their safety or property.

“In light of this investigation, the Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha psc, has assured the public that security measures have been reinforced across the State. Residents are encouraged to carry on with their daily routines without any fear or risk to themselves or thier properties. The Police Command also appeals to online writers to always verify the authenticity of stories before publishing them,” the Command said in a statement.
