Oborevwori Vows to Demolish Structures Obstructing Waterways in Delta

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed disapproval of structures built on waterways, stating that they would be demolished to facilitate unobstructed water flow. He noted that blocked drains were causing stagnant water due to refuse accumulation, exacerbating the longstanding flooding challenges in the region.

The governor made this known during an inspection of discharge channels at Ogbe-Ijoh market on Thursday.

This was as he emphasized the need to channel water through drains and box culverts from Warri Stadium to Bowen Avenue and eventually to the Warri River, highlighting the importance of clearing debris from drains to restore proper water flow in the area.

He reiterated the significance of restoring the functionality of blocked drains to mitigate flood risks in the community, underscoring the state government’s commitment to resolving the persistent flooding challenges in Warri Stadium and its environs.
